He was born in 1984 in Seoul, Korea. Following in the footsteps of his elder brother, at the age of 7 he began studying music. He studied at the preparatory class of the National Conservatory of the Republic of Korea.
He won many prizes in many reputable competitions in Korea, including the Grand Prize at the 19th Hanguk Daily Newspaper Competition.
In 1993, he was chosen the yearЃfs best young pianist by the Korean Children Association.
Having moved to Moscow in 1994, he continued his studies at the Central Specialized Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory.
In September 1996, at age of 12, he won the 2nd prize at the 2nd International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Moscow, for which he received a congratulatory telegram from Mr. Yeong-Sam KIM, President of the Republic of Korea.
He received high acclaim for many concerts which he held in the Small Hall and the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, the Konzert Halls Berlin, the Salle Chopin Playel and Salle Cortot in Ecole Normal in Paris, the Palace Lazenski in Warsaw, with Martha Argerich in the Philharmonic Hall of B-Con Plaza in Beppu, in Japan and others.
As a member of the International Charitable Organization ЃgNew NamesЃh he also performed solo concerts at UNESCO Congress in Paris Celebrating 50th Anniversary of UNESCO, at the Moscow Kremlin for MR Yeltsin, President of Russia, in Danilovsky Monastery, for Alexiy II, Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, in the concert hall of the ЃgRossiyaЃh hotel for Patriarch and the Mayor of Moscow etc.
He performed solo concerts in the world reputable music festivals, like Verbier Festival & Academy in Switzerland, La Roque dЃfAntheron and Piano aux Jacobins Festival in France in the summer of 2000.
In August 2000 he became the laureate of the Busoni International Piano Competition in Italy and in November 2000 won the 2nd prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan
He plans to conclude a contract with EMI Classics for a Debut CD Album to be released in summer 2001.
At present, he is a student of the 3rd grade at the Moscow State Conservatory under Professor Lev N. Naumov.
