Простите, если я что-то пропустил, но как дело обстоит с хостингом? Регистрация домена - вещь не слишком разорительная. Но где расположится сам сайт и его отнюдь немалые архивы? Ведь, как я понял, планируется выложить обширное собрание МР3-шек, а это ведь огромные объёмы?!.

По совету SSK предполагается хостинг Linux 2006 на 3. Они предоставляют 6 Гб за 20 долларов в месяц. Так как сайт планируется запустить в марте, то хостинг я оформлю также в марте.
Уважаемый Romka, поделитесь, пожалуйста, опытом - какие провайдеры запрещают выкладывать mp3?

По-моему, не очень удачная идея делать фон главной страницы черным. Дело не в траурных ассоциациях; просто такими страницами всегда страшно неудобно пользоваться (имхо)

Это "творческий полет" уважаемого SSK. Я, наоборот, спрашивал его в личном сообщении, не мрачноват ли фон на странице приветствия в старом варианте...

Пока по россииским законам ни один провайдер не может быть озабочен вашим контентом. Провайдер за контент не несет никакой ответственности, она возложена исключительно на владельца сайта. Сайт может быть закрыт только по решению суда или временно закрыт по представлению прокуратуры. Если вы используете провайдер, находящийся в другой стране (а такое бывает часто), то нужно интересоваться законодательством этой страны. Вот если вы открываете сайт второго уровня, к примеру, мр3.narod.ru, т.е. сайт открывается при другом сайте, то ответственность уже возлагается и на домен первого уровня. Тогда narod.ru может запретить размещать мр3-файлы.

Andante.com, an ambitious web site that included music from some of the world's leading classical-music institutions, shut down permanently this morning.

The demise of the site came two years after it was purchased from its founders by the French record label Naïve. According to Matthew Westphal, the editor of the site's magazine section for most of its history, Naïve told members of the site that it was no longer able to provide the resources to run the site, particularly given recent technical problems.
Andante was founded by attorney Alain Coblence, with funding from Pierre Bergé, the co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent and the former chair of the Paris Opera; it went live in March 2001.
The site's mission was to be no less than the leading classical music site on the Internet—and the leading source for digital classical recordings, a position that was up for grabs in the pre-iTunes era.
In addition to an online store selling the Andante label's archival CDs, it included a web magazine with news, reviews, interviews, and essays from a stable of top critics; worldwide concert listings; a wide-ranging reference section; and a collection of streaming music files from such partners as the Philadelphia Orchestra, London Symphony, Vienna Philharmonic, and Salzburg Festival.
After Naïve bought the Andante label and the site in October 2003, staff and new offerings were sharply reduced, but traffic continued to grow, according to Westphal—in part because of the richness of the site's archives.
"For a while we had the best classical music journalism online," he said. "Were a miracle to happen and Andante ever to be revived, it would still be a great resource." Ben Mattison is the former managing editor of Andante.com.

Due to a number of personal reasons and the lack of resources I have available at this moment. I was unable to pay for a couple of months service on the Gamingforce server. Even with some of the donations i have received, the cost of running the site is quite high with still a large chunk of the payments coming from me.

To keep the Gamingforce dream alive, I am asking any member who has received so much from GFF to help bring the site back up, keep all of our great content we have built up and help re-establish Gamingforce as the premier online community. We have accomplished so many things as a community before, and with your help we can bring things back better than ever.
In addition to the Support GFF benefits, I have decided to split GFF into 1000 shares. Each share is a partial ownership of Gamingforce and will be official when I finish incorporating the Gamingforce Network. You will receive an official statement of shares via mail and will own / collect any revenues GFF receives from now until the eternity of the site. I have a solid strategy of bringing Gamingforce into a well performing company in the future and anticipate the site to do even better in the future.

Спасибо, интересно. А где опубликовано письмо Ben Mattison'а? Внешне-то на Анданте все нормально. Не знал я, что Naïve просто купил их, думал, что просто партнеры.
Тут в январе, кстати, узнал, что независимый французский лейбл Ambroisie был куплен Naïve. Тоже, скорее всего, ничего хорошего их этого не выйдет...

А про Gamingforce так, честно говоря, и не понял, что там было... Форумы? MP3?
Ну, может быть, заработает - посмотрю.

на gamingforce.com был самый крупный в мире форум по поиску нот со многими библиотеками типа: Американская музыка, Ученики Листа, Испанские композиторы, Латиноамериканские композиторы, Этюды и т.п.
